Validation, meds, and the dreaded car nap
Issue 10 // JAM

Hi ,
Today JAM turns double digits! š„³ We have some exciting things in the works coming soon ā but had to acknowledge this milestone.
Thanks for being here with us, replying and schmoozing, sharing ideas and hacks, and spreading the word to your friends.
JUST A THOUGHT
I've learned from Dr. Chaya Lieba Kobernick that validation (and it's only validating if it is ā so you've only validated if you've done so in a way that lands) is the most crucial factor in a child's long-term mental well-being.
It was eye-opening for me to learn about types of invalidation that I might not have noticed previously, so I can continue to improve!
One that I was thinking about: being careful about how I talk about other people/approaches/ideas in front of my kids.
If validation is the communication that "you make sense" and I convey that someone else or their choice of clothing/vacation/money-spending/priorities makes no sense... and my kid actually resonates or wishes for that other style/priority/thing...
Thatās invalidating. To who they are, and what they want, appreciate, or enjoy.
š” That was a lightbulb moment for me⦠how about you?
Validation can be hard. Do you have any validation tips to share? Do you want to learn more about it? Hit reply and let us know.

JUST THINGS FOR YOU
š· HACK: Mark your meds. If your kid's taking antibiotics this winter (refuah shelaima!), draw a chart on the box or bottle itself and store a marker with the medication.
Super helpful if you're not the only one administering ("did Abba give you the medicine this morning? You're sure? You're 3...can I trust you?") and still super helpful if you're the only one and want to be sure you're keeping track.
š§¹ PRODUCT: After being recommended a Tineco a million times, itās high on my wish list. Looking for a wet/dry vac? Order now for big savings.
(It sweeps+mops at once and can clean up messes like spilled bowls of cereal and milk or smashed eggs, thanks to its slurpablity.)
MOTHERHOOD MUSING
Kabbalistically, Binah is called the mother of the sefiros because she transforms the seed of chochmah into a full structure of understanding1 ā just as you, the mother of your home, provide structure and form, and therefore life, to raw potential
