JUST A THOUGHT

This tip has been really helpful for me:

When my toddler isn’t excited to do something it’s time to do (come to the shower, get dressed in the AM, etc.) I repeat the task — “it’s time to put on pajamas now” — let him know that I’m going to count to 3 and either he can do it himself, or I can help him, and sing out “1, 2, 3, you or me!”

It helps game-ify the task and often ends with him choosing to do it himself.

(And he’s a little kid — sometimes he doesn’t choose to do it, and I have to carry/help him, but it feels almost fun.)

We put together the Unmasking Meaning event for YOU!

JUST IN TIME: PURIM

What is your best tip for accessing the meaning and power of Purim? How do you make Purim an all-around success for your family? Let us know!

✨ MAKE IT MEANINGFUL: We access the power Purim, one of the holiest and most potent days of the year, through joy and song and mishteh. It’s SO easy to forget to tie back the festivities to the purpose of the day. Here are some ways you might want to do so:

  • Think of someone who won’t be getting a lot of deliveries, doesn’t have a rocking Purim seudah to attend, or is struggling with a particular nisayon now and…

    • Deliver mishloach manos

    • Stop in for a visit

    • Call and wish them a freilichen Purim

  • Take a few minutes to daven. You might want to…

    • Daven at night after it (finally) gets quiet

    • Wake up early

    • Snatch a mincha before the seuda kicks off

    • Talk to Hashem as you juggle, chase, serve, coordinate, soothe, dress, re-dress, and visit friends!

  • Pay attention.

✨ TAKE YOUR PICK: Choose a mantra that you’ll repeat to yourself, sing in your head, mutter under your breath. Take what you need and tweak if you’d like!

Use this when you’re doing something you’d prefer not to do, to help keep everyone happy

MOTHERHOOD MUSING

When you notice something good in someone, tell them. It may only take a moment for you to say it, but for them, it could last time.

— R’ Avigdor Miller

And if you’re their mother, it certainly will.
