Live class tomorrow, umami, handle with love

Issue 31 // JAM

Hi ,

A gutten chodesh!

If it’s not yet shkia by you (or even if it is, because you can daven anytime) here’s a tefillah for Rosh Chodesh:

JUST A Q

On that note, reader N wants to know: how do you make Rosh Chodesh special for you and your family?

JUST A THOUGHT

I just started the beautiful book Handle with Love: The Joyful Jewish Parenting Path and have collected so many gems so far.

One that really struck me was a quote from Rav Noach Weinberg: “Just imagine that these are the last ten minutes you have with your child.” And Rebbetzin Devorah Eisenbach’s sobering observation: at some point you will have your last ten minutes with your child. Right now, you are creating the memories they will have.

And to balance that sobering thought, she reassures you: you are doing fine!

To learn the Torah definition of love, get reassurance about your parenting, and powerful perspectives to direct your path forward, I highly recommend the book.

JUST RESPONSES

Reader L shared:

As an alternative to color catchers - use a tablespoon of salt in the laundry to prevent bleeding (I want to try this! Being that I’m brand new to color catchers idk if I’ll be able to compare results 😅)

JUST THINGS FOR YOU

😋REC: Upgrade your rice. (First of all: if you’re still making rice on the stovetop…. WHY? Highly recommend oven rice.) Use umami spice to take your plain rice to the next level. We’re loving it round here lately!

We're down to half a box of matzah in the dining room corner (awaiting Pesach sheini) and we've shifted back into full on challah mode.

That's why this month’s Uplift is being presented by Tamar Ansh, of the Jerusalem Challah Experience.

  • Top 3 hacks to save you time and frustration when making challah

  • Understanding the basic mitzvah; why be mafrish with a bracha, anyways?

  • Divrei chazal about challah for lasting inspiration that you probably didn't know before

    PLUS:

  • How to keep your challahs as fresh as the day you baked them

  • And if we have time — making challah fun for very little ones 😊

✅ There will be a recording; you’ll get it if you register!

JUST FOR LAUGHS

MOTHERHOOD MUSING

Listen to your child, they will teach you what their needs are.

— Rebbetzin Devorah Eisenbach, Handle with Love

That’s all for today!💜
