Issue 50 // JAM

Hi!
Not gonna say bedtime’s been a breeze, but these have made tooth-brushing so much easier (the kids can’t wait for it!) and I feel good knowing there’s some extra teeth-cleaning going on.
As always, thank you for your messages, feedback, and replies💗 Today’s email is the 50th issue of JAM and I’m celebrating your support.

Re: family traditions
On Rosh Chodesh we…
Go to the Kosel and out to eat (you are blessed)
Go to the local bakery where kids choose whatever they want
Make chocolate cornflakes* (a British treat!)
On early Friday nights, the little kids go to sleep and the big kids get quality time with popcorn, candy, and board games
Re: coat and car seat safety
The kids can throw on their coats backwards, and easily slide out of them to buckle in the car, and use them as a blanket
Buckle Me Baby coats are crash-tested and safe for use in a car seat
Warm the car before you head out (TYH for remote start!) and always use gloves and hats
Use thin puffers*, or sweatshirts, and make sure car seat buckles are snug and placed correctly (*Note that the AAP doesn’t recommend any coats at all)
*To make your own chocolate cornflakes:
Mix 4 oz margarine, 4 oz golden syrup, 4 oz sugar, and heat together until melted.
Add 4 heaping tsp cocoa, mix well, and remove from heat. Stir in3 oz cornflakes or rice krispies, and spoon into cupcake “cases” (love that British name!)

JUST FOR YOU
🧤REC: Label your kids’ winter gear. I just realized I hadn’t done this (bH everything’s come home so far!), and ordered these.
🍪RECIPE: Make yummy oatmeal cookies. It’s the season for hearty, delicious baked goods on the counter (or at least in your recipe file). These are a tried and true winner.
Mix
1.5 cups oats
1.5 cups almond flour
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
Add
⅓ c coconut oil
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
Stir in
¾ cup raisins
Roll into balls and flatten on a baking sheet. Bake on 350 for 11-12 mins until golden and then cool to set. Enjoy!
🍝PRODUCT: Strain your pasta even with a full sink. I’ve previously shared the must-know strategy of straining pasta by placing the strainer on top of the pot and then tipping the hot water into the sink. This cool new product is another way to avoid sitting your strainer in the sink before draining.
🌟REC: Parent with clarity. Esti Hirschfeld’s Parenting with Clarity course (endorsed by Rebbetzin Spetner) starts next week! Join (in Lakewood or on Zoom) to understand your child’s emotional needs, build a positive relationship, navigate boundaries, siblings, fights, and spiritual routine... and more.
