Filling foods, meaning mantras, and win the relationship

Issue 66 // JAM

Hi!

It’s a winter wonderland outside my window… and right now, they’re predicting more snow on Purim.

If you’re somewhere warm… send some sun!

JUST IN TIME

The Unmasking Meaning Purim series is back for its third run becuase you asked for it, saying: "I remember how deeply the lectures touched me… I would love to listen again.”

Here are the details:

Rabbi Saberski shlita, shares hilchos megillah as it pertains to busy moms who might be interrupted by a child (or fall asleep…) during megillah.

Yael Bertram shares a gorgeous perspective on Esther’s tefillah, perek chaf bes in Tehillim, as a journey we can learn from and apply to our personal challenges.

Faigy Pollock pulls back the curtain on why simcha can be hard to access and Esther Hamalka’s lessons for us on intimacy and an elevated marriage.

Miriam Gitlin gets real about the overwhelm Purim day might bring, and shares a guideline for creating your plan for a day of joy and connection.

And Chani Juravel reveals the power of bad days — a new perspective for hard times.

(Plus there’s a coloring sheet download so your kids can color while you listen :)

JUST FOR YOU

🎭REC: Keep the troops fed on Purim. My goal is always to serve filling, balanced food earlier in the day, because later — anything goes.

Thanks for sharing your best ideas with us! Here’s how you do it:

  • Wash in the morning and start the day with a filling breakfast/seuda: challah, fish, dips, salads, veggies, and hard-boiled eggs.

  • Each child wakes up on Purim morning to a beautifully wrapped mishloach manos — their special, filling breakfast, including a note from Mommy.

  • Insist on a real breakfast before nosh — oatmeal with banana and cinnamon or a protein-filled sandwich

  • Marinate chicken in advance for a filling lunch of freshly grilled chicken sandwiches that takes just 10 mins to prep.

  • Leave better snackables out so everyone can grab: veggies with dip, a fruit platter (prep the the night before), apple slices with a bowl of peanut butter

  • Put up a cholent for a filling lunch that can be eaten whenever someone wants a bowl

💝PRINT THESE: To keep your cool. Resharing these Purim mantras you loved last year, with this printable version* , where you can fill in your own to help you stay grounded, focused, and calm and one of the most hectic (and holy) days of the year.

Use this when you’re doing something you’d prefer not to do, to help keep everyone happy

✏️REC: Nurture more connection through these beautiful journals. We’re in one of the busiest seasons for mommies. Between Purim and Pesach and then summer prep, you’re going to be doing a lot. But you don’t have to lose yourself in it.

The Inner Mother Journal will help you explore the parts of yourself that affect their mothering and recognize the greatness and power that these parts contain. With beautiful prompts, it’ll guide you on a journey of meaning and depth. Treat yourself to some weekly me-time with your journal and see how you show up more grounded, intentional, and connected.

And, treat the teen in your life too! The Becoming Me Journal is designed to help young adults develop self-awareness and connection in a positive and meaningful way, through exploration and insight that feels like a treat.
