Gamified chart (free download), slip on sneakers, and mom math
Issue 77 // JAM

Hi!
Hope you had a beautiful yom tov!
How are you gearing up for summer?
JUST ONE THING
JAM readers share one thing mothers today should know
It's so easy to be so busy with the technical details of life (and there are a lot of them), that we forget to actually enjoy raising these wonderful delicious little humans that Hashem entrusted to us. We need to pause (and put down the phone!) and actually connect with each child, notice the cute things that they say, and just enjoy being with them. A little bit of focused mom-attention goes a very long way!

JUST FOR YOU
HACK: Turn any sneakers into slip-ons. These elastic laces eliminated the tie-and-retie cycle entirely — and my son can get himself out the door now.
Ulaces are the best (I tried a few variations before landing on the right ones). Check sizing before you order — my 5yo's Sambas needed Shorts. Installation takes some finger-grease, but grab a pliers and it's a one-time 10-minute project for daily easy-on shoes.
🏆 TIP: Try a gamified chart. I wanted to incentivize effort, but felt like we needed something more sophisticated than a chart. Turning it into a game has been a winner! Hang the chart on your fridge and use a magnet as the game piece. Fill out the key with the actions that earn your child moves in the game. (We used emojis for quick recognition.)
Customize it to work for you — you can also add smaller prizes along the way, double up for a longer game, or turn it into a family effort, with everyone playing along.
🎨REC: Go from “I could never paint that!” to “Wait… I actually made this?!” Seriously. (I have personal experience with Gita’s courses — and they’re clear, fun, and not edited to show magic moments; you learn from her trial and error too.)
This course doesn’t just fill a magnificent canvas. It fills people back up too. It’s a confidence booster + oasis to relax and rejuvenate + a reminder that you’re more capable than you thought. Even if you've never held a paintbrush.
With simple to follow videos, you’ll learn blending, layering, texture, gold leaf, and how to create a painting you’ll genuinely be proud to hang in your dining room. Plus it comes with a live community option, feedback, motivation, a rocking app, and plenty of fun along the way.
