Issue 84 // JAM

Hi!
Welcome back from the laundry room!
Just me, or is the summer that would never come, somehow speeding by?
JUST A THOUGHT
A reader shared the beautiful way she builds intention into her busy summer days, and I had to share:
Especially now in the summer when I barely get to see my kids (thank you Hashem for day camp and outdoor play) is create a chart (I do it in this journal, by the How can I pay this forward section). I write my kids name and every night I go through each child think of something positive about them, and make a near their name if I got to give them a genuine kiss and hug that day… and if I didn’t get to then I make it a priority for the next day.
What a beautiful way to slow down the time that's passing us by!

Extend your hours of backyard fun with:
Sprinklers! The best - add a small slide they are good for some time, plus they have to continue playing after til they’re dry enough to come in!
Sidewalk chalk - drawing pictures, coloring floor tiles, hopscotch, obstacle courses, etc.
Wiggle “bimba” like this one
Trampoline
Giant bubbles are great for all ages. (You’ll need a big bucket)
Water! You can add soap and make bubbles, but water can be endless fun all on its own. Throw it in the air and let it fall down in sheets. See how high you can make it go. Get bottles or cups to practice pouring, put it in balloons and throw it at each other. It's just so versatile.
I’ll add: spray bottles, sponges, paintbrushes all add to the fun. We keep them all in a bucket so we can grab-and-go.
This bubble blaster is the most fun and entertaining summer toy yet.
Personally rec: we just got this climbing dome, and for something that seems so simple, it keeps the kids so busy!
JUST FOR YOU
🎨TIP: Keep the kids busy with activities that last more than 3 minutes.
These are all great for tisha b’av:
Perler beads are always a hit!
Foil art - a JAM favorite!
🍋RECIPE: Make these delicious lemony summer treats. One sister made these and texted me “make these immediately.” Because we love winner recipes with ingredients we’re happy to use!
Lemon Fudge Bars
Mix 1.5 cups spelt flour, 1/3 cup olive oil, 1/3 cup silan, zest of 1 lemon to form a crust and bake for 15 minutes.
Then mix the filling: 5 large eggs, 1 cup silan, juice of 5 lemons, ¼ cup olive oil, and ½ cup spelt flour. Pour on top of the crust and return to the oven for an additional 35 minutes. Allow to cool completely before cutting… and enjoy!

They are as good as they look (or better).
🪻REC: Join Secrets of Niddah (last call!) If you’re ready to discover the healing, purpose, and opportunity in your cycle, this is for you. It’ll help you feel more connected to your femininity, your husband, and Hashem. Now’s the perfect time (and that’s why it starts tomorrow) because the Secret of Niddah is the secret of galus and loss; redemption and rebirth. Imagine connecting to the real meaning of the 9 Days of Tisha B’av in an uplifting and empowering way. You can, here. (Btw, Even if you're on the fence, the page itself is worth a read — it's beautifully done.)
