Individual simanim platters, freezer hacks, and the moment that you pause

Issue 91 // JAM

Hi!

Gearing up for a beautiful and busy time of year.

Let’s go!

Readers Respond

Readers had a lot to say about cleaning up toilet training accidents:

Here are a few tips or get the full set of replies here.

  • Keep this bag hanging on the bathroom door to easily drop in soiled clothes

  • Use Clorox wipes! Clean and sanitize in one.

  • Blot first, hard, and then use seltzer on carpets, don’t know why but it removes the odor

  • Use baking soda — on mattresses to draw out moisture and smells, and add a scoop to your washing machine to remove smells

  • For night times, layer a mattress protector, sheet, mattress protector, sheet so in middle of the night you can take off one set and put your child straight back to bed without having to remake it.

  • Personally, I like using mattress protector pads (similar to these) on top of the sheets which often prevent needing to change sheets at all.

Makeup artist Ayala Levy is sharing insider secrets to long-lasting makeup, using the products you already have — in two short, easy videos.

JAM PARTNER

I’ve introduced you to my friends Chayelle and Ellie before and now they’re back — with a gorgeous program designed to help you reconnect to Shabbos and find ways to make it calmer, more meaningful, and more enjoyable, through 20 talks, including a live Cook Shabbos in an Hour demo! It is incredibly well done — highly recommend you join.

JUST FOR YOU

🍎🍯TIP: Plate your simanim on palettes. (Had to reshare this tip because it’s tried-and-true, pretty and practical!) Use paint tray palettes (like these, $6.99 for 12 on Amazon) for easy, individual, disposable simanim plates. You can get fancy by printing a Yehi Ratzon card for the center.

👆 One year we were fancy enough to do that (but not fancy enough to get a high-quality pic).

🧊HACK: Freeze better. JAM readers have the best freezer tips and they’re all here for you. Plus we added a new one:

Use color-coded stickers to indicate which meal each pan is for. So instead of remembering which meats and sides you planned for this meal, you just grab all the red pans - and know that you’re set.

🎨REC: Explore beautiful Sukkos crafts. (Lots of half days and off days coming up!) Check out Colours collection of Sukkos crafts including 3D puzzles, Lucite, foil, and pearl art kits, and more — designed to keep kids of all ages occupied creating a masterpiece they can be proud to display.
