Make Chanuka gifting fun (and affordable)

If you’re gifting this Chanuka, here are some fun twists to change things up!
GIFT FAVORS (and they can be free!)
This works with extended family, between spouses, and at the neighborhood party too. (It’s especially heartwarming when you see your kiddos gift these to each other 😊).
Have each participating member fill out a coupon of a favor that they’re offering. They can gift them to an assigned recipient, or coupons can be auctioned off in a fun party game.
Coupons can varyyyy! Get creative!
Some ideas to help you get started:
A kugel for Shabbos, a board game together, exemption from a chore, a funny birthday song, a custom poem, a letter in the mail, an hour of babysitting, fresh cookies, a grocery run, a special lunch, a hot breakfast, the privilege to choose supper… and so much more.

SPLIT THE GIFTING
Especially in families with more youngers than “olders” (ex: a few aunts gifting a bunch of nephews and nieces), split the gifting – so everyone gets one gift, and each person can give fewer.
GIFT PRACTICALS
Gift things you likely would have purchased for your kids anyway, like a new set of linen, luggage, board games, or books.
PACKAGE IT
Make the packaging part of the fun by having a gift inside several boxes so it’s a real unboxing experience, wrapped pass-the-present style with little prizes in each layer, or in a gag gift box like these from Amazon.
MAKE IT A TRIP
Make the gifting experience a family trip and build it into a treasure hunt at Target or a choose-your-gift experience in the Dollar Tree.
