Table scaping, menu planning, and your quiet power
Issue 4 // JAM

Hi !
Lots of you were egg-tapping this week. How did it go?!
This question came in from a reader. We’d love to hear if you know the answer!

I always cook in approximates, so this wasn’t a concern for me 😊
JUST FOR YOUR TABLE
I love to invest in reusable (so it pays off more than once!) ways to upgrade my yom tov table.
Here’s what I’ve ordered for my Sukkos table — things that work with the tablecloth and dishes you already have, or with a variety of paper goods so you can easily complete the look.
(Yes, this is your reminder to place your orders soon to ensure you get everything in time!)
Cloth napkins: I like that these are not huge ($9.99 for 10)
Napkin rings: something about these reminded me of Sukkos. I had to buy them. ($8 for 12)
Runner, look 1: a pretty, gauzy fabric for a pop of color ($1.87)
Runner, look 2: a rustic look ($4.60)

JUST THINGS FOR YOU
HACK: Is this even a hack for you busy, on-the-ball balabustas? Label the sides of your tinfoil pans in the freezer so you can see find what you’re looking for without a game of Jenga.

MOTHERHOOD MUSING
It's Elul. We're not attending selichos, we likely don't hear the daily shofar.
But we are (and if not yet, here's your reminder — Elul is slipping by) making a cheshbon hanefesh, withholding the criticism, investing in our relationships, smiling a little more, breathing more deeply, reacting less, showing up with more patience.
And on the quiet avodah of women, R' Shimshon Pincus says:
"With women, everything is inside the heart. It's all internal.
Water does not normally reach a temperate higher than 212°F. If we want to bring it to an even higher temperature what do we do? We put in a pressure cooker. When water is covered, it can reach a very high temperature. And so it is with people's deeds. When they are covered, they have a much greater power."
JUST FOR LAUGHS

Don’t think any of these will work as the main dish…
And, that's all for today! 💜☕
