Self care suggestions

Choose any of the below — and take action with the intention of taking care of you. 💓

🍵Savor a drink. Do nothing else while you enjoy “just" a cold cup of seltzer, warm, sweet tea, a coffee (with a cinnamon stick, maple syrup, or frothed milk!), or hot cocoa.

💞Connect with friends. Dedicate one morning or Motzei Shabbos to enjoy a board game, acai bowls, or hot cocoa bar with friends. That social connection, and doing something fun, is powerful.

🛁Shower, for a long time. Or take a hot bath. Add essential oils or bath salts to make it extra-yum. The best part is that it’s quietttt in there.

🌟Give yourself a facemask. Or use a moisturizer that smells delicious.

☀️Stand in the sunshine. Do some stretches (if you have the privacy), breathe in the cold air (if it’s cold where you are!), and notice the colors and sounds.

🎵Listen to music. Dance if it feels good! Sing along! And pay attention to the meaning of the words.

🥗Make a salad. Or another dish that you can prep for yourself (it feels good to do something for you), and enjoy something good for you.

🥬Make things easier. Buy prechecked lettuce or serve on disposables, with the objective of treating yourself.

✏️Express yourself. Journal, braindump style, use guided practices like Yocheved Rottenberg’s Write Your Way Home, or pull out the markers, crayons, and coloring books.

🧠Challenge yourself. Do a puzzle, sudoku, or word search.

🖌️Do something fun. Read, cook, or do a paint-by-number. What is it for you?

🕯️Light a (scented) candle. You might feel yourself relax as soon as you do.

These ideas might cost $0 (or close to it) but what if you still can’t afford them because… time?!

Start with intention. Noticing the smell of the coffee you’re drinking anyway. Feeling the moisturizer, the heat of the shower, the warmth of the sun, the water on your tongue. It really, really makes a difference.
