Self care, this week’s supper menu, and an emunah injection

Issue 7 // JAM

Hi !

We are baaaaack!

(And so are to-do lists, nightly suppers, daily snack-packing, and the routine we are giddy over right now 😅)

We missed you and this space and the schmoozing. We really did.

JUST A THOUGHT

It was trendy to talk about self-care, now it’s trendy to talk against traditional self-care and the preconceived notions about it…

So maybe we’re trendy, or untrendy, but we’re talking about it.

As we head into the winter, here are some suggestions for how you might want to use to nurture yourself. (Because that’s a must-include for your winter routine.)

First, this reminder:

👉 Self care has SO much to do with intention.

Choosing to do something for the purpose of taking care of me has a (very) different impact than doing the same action without thinking about it.

Even intention itself (noticing each bite of food, walking mindfully, feeling the chair supporting you) can be an act of self care.

For me, noticing the yumminess of moisturizing shifts it from part of my nighttime routine to a delicious moment of self care (if you love moisturizer like I do :)

JUST THINGS FOR YOU

🍲 SUPPER (for every night!): This week so far, we had leftovers and schnitzel + couscous. Coming up:

> One pan meatballs: Soften ramen noodles in a bowl of water. In a 9x13 mix chopped meat with spices, form balls. Add ramen noodles to pan and place meatballs on top, pour a jar of marinara sauce and some water, and bake.

> Salmon bowls: Cube salmon, toss with mayo+salt+pepper+garlic+paprika, and bake (the Betty Crocker is amazing for this!). Fill bowl with (brown) rice (oven-baked, of course!), and top with salmon and your choice of: sliced cucumbers, avocado, and roasted sweet potato cubes, Drizzle with teriyaki and/or spicy mayo.

> Chicken on the bone + french fries: Keeping it simple with olive oil+spices. (Or maybe we’ll just make pasta. Time will tell 😅)

What are you making this week?

👶PRODUCT: If you’re at a kids-in-diapers stage, buy these. We were always running out of shopping bags until I did, and they’re conveniently sized to toss in a diaper bag!

REC: Esther Kurtz, host of Emunah for Non-Rebetzins just started a new cycle of Chovos Halevovos on her WhatsApp group. Join to get 90-second (fun!) daily recordings, learn the entire sefer in 6 months, and change your life.

(Not on WhatsApp? You can also hear it on Spotify or Apple Podcasts)
